We are looking for an enthusiastic, pro-active and resourceful person to join our small but dedicated Café Team as the Café Manager. The postholder will be responsible for the day to day running of the Café. Candidates must have experience in staff supervision, catering and food preparation, be an excellent team player, deliver outstanding customer service and have the energy to help us continue to grow.

The Trustees are keen to appoint someone with local knowledge who is able to work off their own initiative, understands the community we serve and those we support. Hours are assigned on a rotational basis and includes weekends.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

The day to day operations of the café and adopts a hands on approach

As Café Manager, you will be required to:

· Manage the food and beverage provision on a day-to-day basis, in accordance with standards agreed with the Centre Manager

· Recruit, train and lead the catering and volunteer staff for within the Café and at functions/events as they arise.

· Plan menus in consultation with the Centre Manager and Directors

· Organise, lead and motivate the catering team to provide a vibrant environment for service users.

· Plan staff shifts and rotas, sharing the information to all who need it.

· Ensure health & safety and food hygiene regulations are strictly observed.

· Budget and establish financial targets and forecasts in line with Finance Director.

· Monitor the quality of the products and service provided

· Maintain accurate records of financial transactions.

· Maintain stock levels and order new supplies as required

· Interact with customers when involved with front of house work

· Liaise with suppliers and clients getting best value where possible.

· Manage and input into the social media content strategy, for the café to engage the public.

Whilst not directly responsible for, you will have an awareness of the following:

· oversee the management of facilities, e.g. checking event bookings and allocation of resources and staff

· plan new promotions and initiatives, and contribute to business development

· deal with staffing and client issues

· keep abreast of trends and developments in the industry, such as menus or trends in consumer tastes.

The list of responsibilities is not exhaustive, and you may be required to perform duties outside of this list.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £12.80 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 21 per week

  • Supervising experience: 1 year (required)
